How I Fixed a Logitech Mouse Not Working with Its USB Receiver

I had a Logitech wireless mouse and a USB receiver. I expected them to work together, but nothing happened when I plugged in the receiver.

Logitech Unifying receiver

Both the mouse and the receiver had a small orange star symbol. After a bit of research, I learned this symbol means they are part of Logitech’s Unifying system, which lets you pair compatible devices using Logitech’s Unifying Software.

✅ The Fix:

I downloaded the Unifying Software from the official Logitech website:

After installing it, I used the software to register the mouse to the receiver. It worked immediately.

Once paired, the mouse and receiver worked on other devices too. I didn’t have to repeat the pairing process.

💡 Tip:

  • The orange star symbol means the device is Unifying compatible.
  • Use the official software to manage pairings.
  • Connect the receiver directly to your computer, not through a USB hub.

A small discovery that saved me from buying a new mouse.
